Daryl Cagle

Daryl Cagle has been one of America's most prolific cartoonists for the last thirty years.  Raised in California, Daryl went to college at UC Santa Barbara and then moved to New York City where he worked for ten years with Jim Henson's Muppets illustrating scores of books, magazines, calendars and all manner of products.

Daryl drew a daily editorial cartoon panel titled, "TRUE!" for Tribune Media Services in the 1990's and went on to draw local editorial cartoons for Hawaii's Midweek newspaper.   He moved to drawing daily cartoons for Gannett's Honolulu Advertiser newspaper; he became the cartoonist for Slate.com in 2000; in 2005 Daryl moved from Slate.com to become the cartoonist for the internet's top news site, MSNBC.com.

Daryl is a past president of the National Cartoonists Society and is the current president of the National Cartoonists Society Foundation.  In 2001, Daryl started a new syndicate, Cagle Cartoons, Inc., which has grown to be the largest distributor of editorial cartoons in America, syndicating Daryl's cartoons to more subscribing newspapers than any other American editorial cartoonist or group of cartoonists. Cagle Cartoons, Inc. distributes the cartoons of about seventy editorial cartoonists and columnists to over eight hundred newspapers. Daryl edits and designs an annual compendium of editorial cartoons titled, "The Best Political Cartoons of the Year" (Que Publishing, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008). Daryl also edited and designed a book titled, "The BIG Book of BUSH Cartoons, the History of the Bush Administration in Cartoons" (Que Publishing, 2005).  Daryl has a new book coming out in 2008 titled, "The Best Campaign 2008 Political Cartoons."
